God’s Provision of a Lot and a Church Building

In 1984 God answered their prayers for a permanent place of worship. Several lands were considered to be bought in order to put up a church building. These areas however were not feasible since one was that near a cemetery and the other near UCCP was usually flooded.

Mr. Ben Bentres donated a 700 sq.m. lot however it was found that it was not appropriate to put up a church building in the area because of its remote location, it had no road and it was a very windy place.

Eventually, Bro. Luis Ngoslab and Bro. Liso Agpas Sr were able to locate a lot at Puguis, La Trinidad. It measured 1,600 sq.m. and amounted to P235,000.00.

The Lord used Bro. David Martin Sr., a member of Naselle Washington Assembly of God Church in USA, to provide for the money needed to purchase the lot. He donated $ 10,000.00 – just enough to pay for it.

Groundbreaking

The lot which was donated by Bro. Bentres was sold and the money was used for paying the bulldozer service which was needed to develop the lot and also in paying the carpenters who built a temporary shelter. The bulldozer service then was rated at P 200.00 per hour. It took them 3 days to develop the lot. Mrs. Rosalinda Lac-amen also donated $ 50.00 – this was used also for the development of the lot.

The acquisition of the land had certain legal problems regarding boundary disputes but these were resolved amicably with the help of  Bro. Agpas, being a lawyer by profession.

Funds were handled by the Missionary in coordination with the District Office since that time the church was still in its pioneering stage and under the direct supervision of the district.

Groundbreaking was held in January 15, 1984 and construction of the church building ensued. Some of the construction materials which were used to put up the church came from the demolished church building of the Baguio Assembly of God.

Church members and pastors helped in its construction and they would often sleep with the construction materials because of the rampant stealing of pine woods and other materials.

The Early THMAGC Church

In August 1985, the first official church service was held inside the building. An additional 120 sq. m. was added to the original church lot which was bought by the church in the amount of P 18,700.00 from the Kimo family.
